“Burro Brave Race Series”

Rules: Burro Brave Race Series
Burro:
The following is the definition of a burro and is to be used in selecting a burro. The word burro comes from the Spanish word meaning donkey. A donkey is defined as being an ass. They have chestnuts on the forelegs only, while other animals of the same species, such as mules or horses, have them on hind and forelegs. The tail has no hair, except on its lower part, which has a brush.
Equipment:
The runner may only be attached to the burro with a single lead rope that does not exceed 15 feet in length (measured from the end of the rope to tip of the buckle). The lead rope may only be connected to the halter tie ring (or tie loop in the case of a rope halter) and may not be affixed to the saddle or to any other part of the burro.
Cruelty:
Any contestant mistreating his animal may be disqualified. No needles, electric prods, narcotics, clubs or whips, other than the halter rope, may be used.
Course:
The course can be any of your choosing. Pick out any 5-mile distance. Please make sure you are allowed with your burro, follow all laws posted.

Stay At Home Order:
While the state of Colorado remains under a Stay At Home order until April 26, there are exemptions that allow necessary activities which include caring for pets and livestock and engaging in an outdoor activity such as walking, hiking and running. While it’s not explicit, we believe training with your burro while following social distance requirements is allowable under the order. Everyone is encouraged to train on roads and trails close to your home to limit travel and keep groups to a minimum (many trails have limited group sizes to four people). In addition, be sure to follow the six-foot social distance requirement, which is easy to do if you keep a donkey-length between you and another runner. Most importantly, get outside and have some fun with your burro! For more details on the updated Public Health Order implementing the Stay at Home requirements, Click Here.
